Chimney Chase Cover and Cap Replacement in Arlington, TX

Ember Chimney & Fireplace replaced a rusted chimney top on a brick home in Arlington, TX in October 2026. We took off the old metal top and its small round cap, and put on a new black chase cover with a storm collar and a new black chimney cap.
The home is in the 76017 ZIP in southwest Arlington, a drive east from our Fort Worth office on River Run.
What We Found
The chimney is red brick with a metal top. That top had rusted to a deep orange, and a small round cap sat on the flue pipe. Tall trees hang over this roof, so leaves and water sit on the metal after every storm.

Rust on a chimney top is more than a looks problem. Once the metal thins, water gets through to the wood framing and brick underneath. You often see it inside first, as stains near the fireplace or a rusty damper.
What We Did
We removed the old top so the opening was clear, then fit a new chase cover sized to this chimney.

The new cover is black metal with sloped sides, so rain runs off instead of pooling. A storm collar seals the gap where the flue pipe comes through.

Last, we set a new black chimney cap over the flue. It has screened sides that let smoke out and keep birds, squirrels and leaves out.

Chimney Cap Installation in Arlington, TX
A cap and a chase cover do two different jobs. The cover keeps water off the top of the chimney. The cap keeps rain, animals and debris out of the flue. When one is rusted, the other is often close behind, so we check both. You can read more on our chimney cap installation page.
Chimney Repair After Water Damage
If water has been getting in for a while, the brick and mortar near the top may need work too. Our chimney repair crew photographs any damage and gives you a written price before starting. For typical numbers, see how much a chimney cap costs installed and how much chimney repair costs.
