Mesh Screen for an Open Chimney Shroud in Celina, TX

Ember Chimney & Fireplace closed in the open sides of a decorative chimney shroud on a newer home in Celina, TX in August 2026. The shroud sits on top of a tall chimney chase covered in siding. We wrapped its open sides with metal mesh.
The home is in the 75009 ZIP in Celina, one of the fastest-growing parts of Collin County.
What We Found
Many new homes in Collin County have a framed chimney chase instead of brick. This one is dark lap siding, and on top there is a metal shroud with big open sides. From the ground it looks like a clean, modern finish.

The catch is those open sides. They give birds a sheltered ledge right next to the flue, and leaves blow straight in.
What We Did
Our technician set ladders on the roof and worked at the top of the chase. The technician wrapped the open sides of the shroud with metal mesh and fastened it in place, so the openings are covered while air and smoke can still pass through.

Chimney Cap Installation in Celina, TX
Shrouds, caps and screens all have the same job: keep rain, animals and debris out of the flue. On newer homes with a shroud, mesh is often the simplest fix. On older brick chimneys, a cap usually does the work. Our chimney cap installation page explains the options, and how much a chimney cap costs installed gives typical Dallas–Fort Worth price ranges.
Chimney Inspection for Newer Homes
New does not always mean trouble-free. Prefab fireplaces and framed chases have their own weak spots, like the chase cover on top and the seams in the siding. A chimney inspection gives you photos of what we find and a written price for anything that needs work.
